i have an 85 SC and it was the fuel injected 2.8 but now is a carbed 350. i was wondering wut electrical needs to be hook up in order for this thing to run and scream down the road. so far all i no is the alternater, starter, tcc, and cooling fans have to be hooked up. is that it?

which sensers do i HAVE to have?

all i need is the electrical figured out and i can drive it !! so if u guys can help, thatd be awesome

you need the water temp and oil pressure senders. You may have to do something with the fuel pump and it's wiring and you need power to the coil

temp, oil, ignition, starter, alt, fan, TC, possibly choke, etc.

dont touch the fuel pump/fuel guage wiring....going from a 2.8 to v8 has nothing todo with it

is anything on you car computer controlled any more?

wouldn't the fuel pump put out too much pressure? Would the pump even come on until there was oil pressure?

you buy a adjustable fuel pressure regulator with a return line to the tank so your pump isnt even affected by the v8 swap.

i was just going to leave the fuel pump in the tank and then i was gonna run a mechanical on the block and run the gas through that. my co- worker said that should be alright.

pskel350 wuts a TC ? u mean the tcc?

That isn't going to work. I was going to do the same thing, but I was told it would not work. You have a couple of options on what to do. You can either get a carb car's sending unit or you can remove the fuel pump and put a union to extend the fuel line to the bottom of the tank. It might sound a little harder than it actually is, but trust me, it will be worth it once it is done.

or if you pump only primes, wich was my case you can hard wire it to a keyed source. but be safe and use a oil pressure swith also
and yes you will need a 3 port regulater..I used a malory 80.00

if your going to run a mechanical pump then you better drop that tank down and pull the pump, extend the pickup and put the tank back in the car. while your under the car, pull the fuel filter out and put a strait line in there. the mechanical will not pull the fuel through all that stuff. remember, fuel filters are push through, not pull through, so you will need a fuel filter up by the motor after the fuel pump. i know this first hand. i did the swap and could not figure out why the motor wouldn't run for more then 200 feet. did above mentioned, and it worked great.

you shouldnt have to mess with the wiring at all....i've never had to for a v8 swap where i kept the intake pump working. and those were an a 86 and 91 3rd gens.

what years do you have to change the wiring

My 89 for sure..and a lot of other years...after the swap,The pump will just prime, then stop...ive talked to a lot of people about this issue...Some intank pumps will run and some will only prime..like mine....
also people have tried to syphone through the intank pump with a mechanical, or an inline pump. again some worked others didnt. I had to splice into the wires behind the backseat. and run into a keyed source, for the pump to work properly. Now I did all my wiring using the v6 wirig harness..that might be the difference

i am using v6 harness as well, i think im gonns run an adjustable regualter and leave the pump in the tank alone. i have a inline fuel filter, should i run the same one i have in there right now? or just rip it out and put in the inline?

sound good to any of u ?

I kept my filter in the stock position.......then I put a small inline before the regulator......you will need a inline pressure gauge, after the regulator and before the carb,,,real cheap around $7
you want to run 5-7lbs with a carb.
