can i put LT1 heads and intake on an older engine block? (pre-'86)
im asking because i am not sure about the water pump mounting to the block since the coolant holes are different on a normal water pump and an LT1 water pump....

any help will help me out a ton!, i wanna get this swap done as soon as possible, and i got alotta work ahead of me,
thanks,
keith

Yes you can, but you really have to ask yourself why. The work involved is fairly substantial, plus you have to drill the intake for a distributor. The better solution is to keep the traditional SBC heads and get a modified LT1 intake.

Just thought of something, what does the water pump have to do with anything?

LT1 swap ?'s

okay, i wasnt aware of the distributor issue when using the older block with the LT1 intake,
but as far as the water pump, i was asking because, the coolant holes on the front of the LT1 block (correct me if im wrong) are different then an earlier block, and also i didnt know if the reverse cooling aspect of the heads, and the waterpump being cam driven, would affect anything..??

thanks for the help
Keith
