Budget Heads for LT1 intake conversion on SBC?
Hello,
I am familiar with all the heads everyone is using on Carb'd, TBI'd, and TPI'd engines.
I'm not very familiar with what works good on the newer FI chevy engines.
I read alot about the LT1 and how it's been modified by John Millican to fit the current SBC engines in our cars now.
What are some good heads for someone on a budget for the LT1 intake conversion?
I know people are doing the intake conversion, but have there been any results with different style heads?
I know the TBI heads are crap. Has anyone had success with any of the TPI heads? I know Vortecs will not work with the LT1 without drastic mods so those are out of the question.
Thanks,

Yeah but some shops charge big $$$ for even basic port work. The shops around me all want like $700 to $800 for just a basic pocket port.
If that is the case, you'd be better off with Vortec heads.
I got lucky and found a set of ported L98's for a good deal. Even have the reciepts for the port work.

Yeah, the ported ones I bought were Iron. The aluminum L98's go for quite a bit more usually.
And I'm not saying you shouldn't have your stock heads ported, you should definitely check around for prices if you aren't doing the porting yourself.
