thanks for the help, need more though,
Ok guys, sorry for the lag time,
have had some things keeping me off the computer, like a pissed
girlfriend who thinks I like my car more then her, well cant say she's intirely wrong, oh hi love!.
Ok I have the engine dialed for the most part, still thinking about that cam swap you reccomended. going too re gear it fisrt.
Have found a junkyard that has two trans ams with disk rear end,
the cars have a 2.8 ltr in them V6. is this the rear end I want? if so
does it have the 3.73 gearing in it? both however are automatics, does that make a difference?
ended up swapping to a msd 6 A L box and diss, set me back a good 400 though, also took of the edelbrock carb and relpaced it with a holley 670 street avenger, changed the secondary spring too, set it up to open earlier.
I now have more bottom end then before, and it idles smoothly, meaning the engine doesnt rock back and forth like it's having a stroke. still a little movement, but I was told that is because of the cam in it.
guess what I am trying to accomplish guys is to have the type of torque that plasters you too the seat, but with enough top end to cruise at 80-85 under 3 grand, right now I can do 80 at 2200 rpms in 5th. but I dont have the torque I want.
also edelbrock makes a shorty header for my year car, would i be better off going with the short or the tes headers.
someone mentioned smog, I dont have to smog my car, I have it regestered on sycuan indian res, which makes it a smog exempt car, also, brother in law owns a test only.
what would you reccommend i do, I dont want to throw money away, I work too hard for it..
thanks for the ear and patience,

The factory supplied different ratios over the years with V6's. The best bet is pull the cover and get the teeth count off the gears. Most V6's didn't have posi (or disk brakes). But, otherwise the rears are perfectly fine for use behind a V8. Manual tranny cars usually got the higher number ratio gears than automatics, but V6's also got higher number ratios than V8's (typically - not always).
Edelbrock only makes TES for our cars. They're okay. I prefer the Hooker 2055's, or Hedmans for dual cats for about the same money.
Double pumper carbs typically work a little better with manual trannys if you don't keep it floored during the shift.
