ls1 into a 1984
i am planning to spend a good amount of money transforming my junker into a true monster. my question is can you fit an ls1 into a 1984? do the engine mounts fit? and will i need to adjust anything else? i know i need a new wireing harness. will this engine fit into the car? will i have to cut any of the fram or the body to make it fit?

If you don't mind my asking, what in the world is a "1984 Z28 iroc Z camaro"? Since GM didn't have the contract with IROC until 1985 to use their name, there is no such thing as what you describe; no, not even one rare special-order one for somebody's brother's boss's uncle's wife that worked at some dealership. GM simply didn't have the right to use that name in that model year. No such thing as "features from the future".
Slapping the later-model stickers on the early car doesn't somehow transform it into an "IROC". "Partly IROC clone" maybe, but not the real thing.
But as far as the LS1 question goes, it would be the same putting one into the car you describe, as it would be to put it in a car that actually exists. It's getting to be a fairly popular swap, now that LS1s are becoming more widely available in the junk market.

Just a guess, but people calling every Z-28 an "IROC" is a pet peeve of yours.
Although, I understand that sometimes people like the word but know nothing about the racing series, or they buy a car (maybe even pay extra for the IROC name!) and somebody else has bogused it up.
