LT1 Swap questions
So I might be getting an LT1 to drop into my 86 IROC. First some background. It's coming out of a '95 Trans Am. My friend is going with an LS6 and a six speed, so I'd be getting his LT1 and 4l60e tranny, computer and wiring harness. I've done some research here, so I know about the a/c problem, the fuel lines, power steering lines and coolant hoses.
OK now my questions:
1. Can I somehow connect my mechanical speedometer to the 4l60e? Or is it easier to get a '93 throttle body, tv cable and use my 700R4? Or would it be eaiser to swap in a electric 3rd gen firebird speedometer to use with the 4l60e?
2. If I have the engine, tranny, wire harness, underhood fuse block from the '95, are there any other wiring problems I will encounter?

1. Easiest solution would be to do as you said and get the '93 TB and cable. You could also get a VSS that has a mechanical output.
2. Sounds like you've got everything covered. Have VATS programmed out if you don't want it.

Painless wiring sells a 4 pulse vss for "tpi" setups with a pass thru drive for use with mech speedometer cable.
