250-400wrhp
250-400wrhp
i want 350-400 RWHP and i was thinkin about starting with a ZZ4 short block. what would be the best and safest way gettin those numbers out of it. i would like to keep some sort of fuel injection and i would rather have no power adders but def. no nitrous. i was thinkin that it might be cheaper, safer and easier to do a LS1 swap and get around those numbers instead well probally the same price maybe a little more for the LS1 swap

a stock ls1 would probobally net you just shy of 300 rwhp.
With the zz4 you could achieve 350+ with a good set of heads, cam, and a stealth ram or a healthy tbi setup.

A 400 cu.in sbc with 200+ cc heads and a 230+ duration cam
could get you there.

An LS1 mated to an auto tranny will be just shy of 300rwhp stock. Mated to a manual, it will be just over 300rwhp.
Add bolts-ons, heads, and a moderate cam, and 400rwhp is EASILY obtainable. Add aggressive cam and headers and you'll see mid-400's. This is without nitrous OR forced induction.
There are even a couple of cam-only setups making 400rwhp, with VERY aggressive cams.
I had to make a choice between the ZZ4 and the LS1, and decided on the LS1. Although we still have a lot of work to do before the car is back on the road, I'm still happy with my decision.
