i got a 87 iroc with a 305 TPI automatic and i wanted to know if i could drop a lt1 with keeping the stock tranny?

 

yes, but you need a 93 throttle body, so you can hook up your tranny, otherwise it is a straight swap.

 

so all i would need is just a newer manifold and tb to make it work

 

no if your talking about an LT1 like the Gen II LT1 you only need a 93 TB to make your 700 work with it .... you need all the usual swap items for droping an LT1 into a 3rdgen, which there are plenty of lists all over, Im actuall finishing up my swap and there are many others that have, so just do some searchs and then what ever questions you have we can answer.

You need a throttle body from a 93 camaro / firebird with LT1, you also need the TV cable from the same vehicle, the IAC housing from your 94+ body will swap onto the 93 body to keep you from having to change wiring since the connector for the iac is different, and apparently the VSS from an auto 4th gen will bolt right into the 700R4 eliminating the vss pulse difference issue.

 

Interesting. Still no easy solution for a T-5?
