1984 Camaro Z28...Help
I currently own an '84 camaro with a V-8 305, carbeurated. All emissions hoses have been cut by the idiot who owned it last, and it now puts out less ponies than a small lawn tractor. Consequently, I'm looking to do an engine swap for any 350 that will mate a manual gearbox and is cheap. I'm looking for the entire engine with or without intake manifold and carb/fuel injection. Do any of you know what would be the best engine model to fit this? Please write me back if you know of any complete long blocks that would fit my cause and wallet...

Tell me what you guys think of this: ZZ4 355 Hp Chevy Crate engine with 405 lbs. of torq, 4 bolt mains, forged steel crank shaft, high silicon aluminum offset pin pistons, and hydraulic roller cam. What kind of intake manifold should i go with for this engine? I would like it to be fuel injected, I was considering the holly fuel injected stealth ram multi-port injection kit. What do you guys think?

That engine would do very well with your current carb set-up and some minor tuning. It comes with a very good carb intake manifold and has the required bosses & fittings. In fact, the factory had a kit to install that crate engine in '82-'87 carb'd Camaros, and it can be duplicated very easily. The kit had a dual-snorkel air cleaner that is becoming harder to find, and I'd suggest headers rather than the manifolds that the kit used.
Or, you could go with the EFI. The engine is a great street performance base either way.
The way I'd start would be to get what you've got running properly. Then you don't need to worry over that part when you do the engine swap. Of course, if you go EFI, that isn't as much as an issue, as you'll be plowing new ground, anyway.
