hrmm question about a 434

is it possible to swap a 305 out and put a 434 into a 86 iroc z camaro ...my dad doesnt think the engine compartment is big enough and i sort of want the 434 because of its 695 hp ...but he might be right and i dont want a 383 because its a dodge motor and everything would have to be swapped for dodge parts not like dodge is bad but i just dont wanna be stuck doing that ...soooooooooo with all of that in mind should i just get a 350 instead or attempt to pull off the impossible and get a 434?

is a 434 even possible at all?

I think your confused maybe with the 383, chrysler did make a 383, but the 383 talked about on this site mainly is the chevy 383 stroker. which is a .030" over 350 with 3.75 stroke crank, vs. the stock 3.48 stroke. You wouldn't have to swap anything, it will work with anything a 350 will work with. That 434 sounds awesome, sounds like a IMCA modified alcohol stroker motor though. What are you planning to do with this car?

Yes it is possible.

It's exactly the same on the outside as a 305. Same motor mounts, same water pump, same accessories, same block deck height, same head dimensions, etc. etc. etc. There are some things you'd probably have to change; but overall, it's as close to a drop-in as it gets.

On the other hand, it won't make any 695 HP with some TPI or LG4 garbage all over it like your car came with. You'd be lucky to crack 350 HP with any of that kind of lame stock stuff.

It consists of a 400 block, bored .030"; and a crank with a 4" stroke instead of the stock 3.75" that a 400 came with. If it had been left at std bore, it would be a 427 instead of a 434.

A 383 for your car would be a Chevy 350, bored .030", and with a crank that has the stock 400 stroke installed in in it, so that its stroke is 3.75" instead of 3.48". Nothing Chrysler about it.

Can't tell anything about IMCA modified alcohol or any of that..... last one I had anything to do with, we put in a K-5 Blazer, with an Accel Pro-Ram on top of it. Ran it on the street with pump gas. On the other hand, I doubt it was capable of any 695 HP; probably more like low 500s. Nothing really radical or earth-shaking.

If I were you I'd make it clear that by "racing" you mean drag racing... at the track. Not on the street. Many people here will not help someone who will inadvertantly hurt/kill themselves or others.

Even with a 434, I dont see this being streetable at close to 700RWHP.

What exactly is your plans for this car? Daily driver, street/strip, strip only, auto-x, street/auto-x ... etc. That should help us figure out how to help you.

I think the first thing you should do, is read some books on Engine building, hot rodding, etc. "How to build Big inch small blocks" is a good book to start with. You sound like you have a lot to learn about the overall building of a car, and some reading is a good place to start.
