What would the price range be for the different v8s available to swap in? I am on a budget, and currently have $1500 saved up. What is my best bang for my buck?

should be able to get one for less than 700$ complete.
use the other money for upgrades
or you might find a cheap enough LT1 for about 900.. i saw a few on ebay sell for less. depends on what you want to do with the car.

I see that you have a 2.8 in your current 3rd gen. You will need to add some $$ for a tranny to bolt onto the V8. I had a $200.00 limit on my Vortec 357 (almost done) and still putting money down for misc. parts to make it work.

price range for v8 `s $500 (junkyard motor) to $60000+ (prostock motor). So with $1500 your on the low scale of v8.you have two options
1. save up more
or
2.go nitrous (best bang for the buck)

With only $1500, your best bet is to find a factory V8 donor car. Don't spend more than $1000, though, so you have enough money for the whole job.
A lot depends upon whether or not manual vs. auto tranny is important to you.
