better value for the money??

hey guys i just had a question about engine swaps iwas lookin at buying the G.M high output 350 crate motor (330 Hp) i was just wondering whether or not to try a get an old block and rebuild or buy crate.
which do you think is a better deal??
if i rebuild i would do it right (bored, machined, and all that good stuff)
whats better?
idont want a full out racer but 300 horsepower would do just fine
thanks

Unless you have a "hook up", machine work gets very expensive.

I built an engine a few years ago and realized I could have bought a "prepped" block on the internet cheaper then what I spent at the local machine shop.

If I had to start all over again, I would probably just buy a crate engine.

Yea, short/long blocks are so cheap. I mean, it was fun building my engine and getting the machine work done and everything and learning how it all goes, but from now on it's crate motors and pre-assembled short blocks for me.
