400sb into an 83 Z28???
I have a spare 400 that I would love to drop into my 83 Z28. I would like to keep the crossfire setup,is that possible?? And, does Holly or anyone else make replacement throttle bodies for my car?? I would assume that going that route that there would be a lot less messing with the computer ??Please advise....

It's been done. Stock factory 400 heads are terrible.
I don't know of any direct bolt-on replacement TBI's for cross-fire. You might inquire over on the TBI forum.

yeah, the heads are horrible (i've got a kinda-stock sbc400 in my car now). i'm lookin to step up to some vortecs (hoping the compression ratio is still within pump gas means). however, this motor is deffinately mroe powerful than my old L03
other than that, the crossfire should bolt right on, but probably wont be able to breathe well enough for the bigger cubes. i have yet to see any bolt-on TB upgrades, but you may be able to get them opened up and larger throttle blades.

The swap should be just like a stock replacement and man will it run. As for the crossfire it may be very restrictive but should be ok. I put a 400 in my 83Z many years ago with no mods other then a carb. and it was running high 13's. With some minor tweeking low 13's is no problem. Good luck.
