Help

Well for starters this doesnt have much to do with an engine swap but more with the rear end. I just recently dropped in a 383 stroker with a little over 500 hp and fully race built 1987 700R4 into my 1984 camaro z28. My question is what kinda posi unit can i go with that will be relatively cheap ($3-400) because mine is a 3.23 non posi. I would like to keep the 10 bolt.

i think you've exceeded the recommended hp threshold of the 10 bolt. maybe ask in the Transmissions andDrivetrain forum.

$400 will get you a posi. Add another $100 for an install kit. Then another $150-$200 for labor to install it. About $350 for aftermarket axles such as Superior, and $150 for a support cover. Weld the axle tubes to the carrier housing all around.

Then if you launch softly and bring the power on gradually, it may last for awhile.

Or, spend about $2000 on a 9-inch or 12-bolt that can really handle the power.
