can i use a tbi unit with harness on 383?plus some other mods

I plan to turn 350 into 383 stroker with all the goodies and drop into my 92 Camaro RS, can i save my tbi unit with all the harness and computer, because i don't wonna mess with TPI because too much wires, i can go Carb, but i like fuel injection better, so can my stock tbi unit with computer handle 383? If i upgrade the computer with stage 2 Jet chip? i don't really wonna get rid of TBI unit and its Computer, and can i keep my stock t 5 tranny or should i go t56?, i am thinkin to put an rear end from the newer 98-02 Camaro SS, is it possible? I apriciate ur opinions

Well the stock tbi is going to have a really hard time with that 383. What cam are you running? Its really going to choke that thing up. How many less wires are there really on a tbi?

Look into the 454 tbi from the trucks... Check the tbi boards.

Dont get a Jet chip theyr worthless.

Your T-5 tranny CAN survive for years depending on the driver. If you drive it real hard and launch it hard with sticky tires and good clutch then no it wont work for long if at all.

Just as he said above, a chip would be worthless and the Throttle body would be too small. Your better off spending the money on a custom dyno tune. It will be worth it and better suited for your application because all the chips are generic. They ad some small power gain but are made to be as they say "one size fits all". Their are sites that sell bigger (higher CFM) throttle bodies. I did a search a long time ago when I first got my car and found some. Sorry I don't remember them. The rear end is possible but as you've probably read, it is wider than the factory and you will have too use spacers or get a set of 4th gen wheels.

Welcome to the boards! There are a few memeber running 383 TBI motors and all have posted great details on their swap and the tuning required. Spend some time using the search function for 383 TBI in the TBI forum.

Pretty much what shifty said. I ran a stock ecu (custom chips however) w/ a holley 670 tbi and 85pph injectors. The combo was amazing, and I really wish I would have been able to run it at the track after mods and prom tuning. But as it was, on a crappy professional products intake, generic tune, and stock clutch I trapped 106mph at KCIR. I *believe* corrected time @ sea level are 12.9x at 109mph. RPM air gap, tune, and stage 3 clutch made an amazing difference, but unfortuantly I never made it to the track after those mods.
Unfortuantly, you live and learn.....and of course the engine went But if you have any questions feel free to PM me.
