okay, i've got a 83 base model camaro, with the stock 305 4bbl motor, 700r4 transmission. my body and interior are very bad. my uncle has a 92 rs body, that has no motor and no transmission, but the body and interior are perfect. now, the 92 was a v6 5 spd. would i be able to have my 83's motor and transmission put into the 92's body? the 83 is my daily driver, so i have all the wiring, etc..
thank you, everyone, for your time....

you have the perfect setup for the swap. read the v6-v8 sticky, and do a search, as just about all the questions that could come up have been asked. I'm ending up putting an 87 305 w/84 harnesses in my 85 car that hcame w/the 2.8 origonally.

The only snag I can think of is putting an older engine/system into a newer chassis, which isn't emissions-legal.
This is the perfect situation for the swap cause you have all the parts to do the swap. But is emisions and problem in your area?
no, emission's test aren't a problem here. we haven't had them in years, if they start doing it again half the people in this town would be walking. (I live in augusta ga) thanks, everybody... now all i have to do is try to find someone to do it who won't charge me more than the cost of a new camaro to swap it over..
sorry for not searching.

The labor is involved enough that this is typically considered a do-it-yourself effort. In other words, it typically isn't worth paying someone to do it, because you could go out and buy a Camaro with a V8 in it already for no more and probably less than what a competent shop would have to charge to do it.Originally posted by Blue83Camaro
