Car of the Month or Car of the Year in December?

we're getting down to the last couple of COTM contests for 2015. its been a great year as can be seen from the collage below. so last year we ran a Car Of The Year (COTY) contest in December, pitting January through November's winners. we can do that again this year, or we can run a normal COTM in December, giving us an honest 12 COTM winners.

as this is a community and i aim to please, i would like the input from you guys and gals on how best to proceed - especially the input from those who frequently participate in the COTM Nominations and Voting.

you guys want 12 COTMs or 11 COTMs and a COTY?

Re: Car of the Month or Car of the Year in December?

Both.

Since each COTM winner is determined by the end of the previous month, then the December COTM will be awarded in November, giving us 12 COTM winners to compete for COTY, which can be determined by the end of December.

Also during December the normal COTM poll for January can still take place.

So determine the 12th COTM by the end of November, and then have two polls in December: one for January COTM and one for COTY.

i can see how something like that could possibly work. at first it seemed very confusing and the idea of two competitions running simultaneously sounds unworkable, but hmm... perhaps.

thanks for that input and for thinking up ways to create more work for me...

i'd like to see 12 cotms versus a car of the year. It would be nice to see
a calendar of the previous years cars for sale on here.

Agree^^^

Also figure out a way to get the COTM to get a daily bump or to be at the top of all the new threads/posts. I think COTM thread gets lost and that has to do with the low voter turnout. Personally, I think voter turnout has been pretty sorry. Especially with the amount of active members on here.

And Linson, keep up the great job with COTM! KUDO'S TO YOU!

COTY will be simple. There will be no nomination process because the 12 nominees will have already been determined. Just post the ballot at the beginning of the month, and you won't have to deal with it again until the end of the month. That should allow time for the normal COTM process to take place.

You're welcome

I am in agreement with all of the above. Do both cotm and coty. Make a link on main page and sticky on this page. Would also love to see a calendar of them. Thats a lot of work so we might need to get some help for poor linson heh.
