Do I have a chevy or pontiac 305??
I have a 1983 Firebird trans am with a 305 crossfire and automatic tranny. Is the motor a chevy or pontiac motor? Need to know if my crate chevy 383 will bolt up correctly.

https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/techdb.shtml should have given you this first! sorry it says that in 83 there was a 305!! shows it was used in the z28 also. so... you shouldn't have trouble if you put a chevy v8 in!
