Swap Questions
Hey guys/gals. Have a few questions in regards to motor swap. My 91 RS currently has a v6 and I'm planning on swapping it out with a 350 v8. The county where I live in PA currently only has visual inspection of emission equipment and, according to mechanic I go to, I have to keep the emission equipment that's currently on the car when I do swap. So all I need to have on v8 after swap is: PCV, EGR, EVAP, O2, cat converter, and "Spark Control" which I assume is ignition system. I'm just learning about motors so my question is are these items needed pretty common. From what I hear they are.
I'm planning on going with a carb'd 350 to avoid all the computerized control. So with that said, will the current computer still control the transmission if all the connections to the motor are cut. If not, what options do I have for the tranny to keep overdrive. Also, is the 700r4 thats connected to v6 and weaker than a 700r4 that comes with a v8. In other words, is the transmission gonna need beefed up at all for a v8?
I'd appreciate any input on this. I have used search function and have been able to find alot of info but I wanted to put this out to answer my additional questions. Thanks!

swap
I have a 90 rs that i got and putting 350/350 trans in it.I am an emissions licensed tech in phila.I'll tell you this, when my car is done I am going to get classic tags on it.The car has to be 15 years or older to get tags,And the best part is NO MORE EMISSIONS just safety Sticker.I did this with my 84 camaro when i had it.Oh beef up your trans and it will hold.Lock up will not work. The trans will still have o/d but not lock up.Rip all that computer b/s out and start a fire with it.you will need to change that pump in the tank.pull the pump off and replace it with a hose.

I've thought about getting classic plates as well. What are the limitations on driving when you have Classic plates? What is "lock up" in regards to transmission? Thanks

There is a way to get classic insurance and have a regular licesens plate.I just remembered that my father has this on his 67 camaro.I will ask him about it.Ok the trans, lockup means when the car is in crusing speed [meaning o/d] the converter go's in a lock up mode for fuel economy.
