Which way do I go???
Which way do I go???
Hey Everybody,
I've got an 88 SC with an L03, I want 330 to 350 HP but I've got a few restrictions.
1. I live in Washington state and need to pass emissions.
2. I've got a fully function Jongbloed hood and I'd like to keep it that way.
3. I want to spend no more than $3500 to get the motor in AND running at the 330 to 350hp mark.
I'd like to stay with the TBI but it sounds like a bear to tune these babies into beasts. I found a guy in Denver that sells TBIs with some high hp claims from http://350chevys.com/350_tbi_stage_2.htm but I'm leary because of, again the tuning nightmares I've heard. So what's it going to take to get my sweet SC running like a Camaro should? I'm sick of my daily driver 6 banger Pontiac being able to blow the doors off my hotrod.
Help!!!

There's no need to fear PROM tuning. It's just a matter of getting the burning equipment, programming software, and some blanks.
With an engine built by someone who understands the needs of TBI, good exhaust and air cleaner systems, and basic PROM tuning (which is to some extent trial & retrial), you aren't looking at solving world hunger here.

You should be able to get a 330 hp crate 350 and have it installed for 3500. If you plan on doing the work yourself you can spend the extra money somewhere else and get more than 330.
