Caddy 501 into a 77 trans am?????
Got a buddy who wants to put a 501 caddy motor into a 77 trans amwith a T10 4 speed tranny. Anyone done this, or know someone who has or knows something about the idea?

It's not likely that the back end of a Caddy crank will be drilled for a pilot bushing. Got a BOP pattern bell housing?

I've yanked out Caddy engines and replaced them with Olds engines back in the early 90's. Although it will fit, it's not going to be a big performance engine. The stock valve train doesn't like to go above 5000 rpm. The biggest improvements to the engine is a cam swap and an aluminum intake. For headers, if Caddy headers are not available for a second gen and I doubt they are, you buy BBC headers designed for the car. You buy Caddy header flanges, cut the flanges off the BBC headers and weld on the Caddy ones. The exhaust ports are in the same location but the bolt pattern is different.
