Pro to eliminating the gas tank fuel pump:
- You won't have to drop the tank again to replace the in-tank electric.
Con to eliminating the gas tank fuel pump:
- Dropping the tank.
Pro to regulator:
- Don't have to drop the tank (the return line is already there, by the way).
- Pusher pump is less susceptible to vapor lock problems.
Con to regulator:
- Price of the regulator.
- The in-tank electric will eventually fail and you'll have to drop the tank.
- You won't have to drop the tank again to replace the in-tank electric.
