Swap Opinions wanted.
Well I have been reading a lot on this site lately and am trying to make a decision. I have a '84 Firebird that I am going to start fixing up. I am trying to figure out if it would be better to do the LTx/LSx swap or would it be better to get a carbed crate motor such as GM Fastburn 385, Edlebrock 410 HP SBC crate engine, JEG's Blueprint 405 HP/440 TQ 383 engine or another engine kit you all might think is better.
I already plan to do the T-56 swap since it has a T-5 and everything says that tranny is pretty weak, as well as other brake and suspension upgrades. I had to wait a while to do this project until I got enough money I could spend so the car has been sitting undriveable for many years (since 1997) and needs major overhaul on everything but it was my first car so I don't want to get rid of it. Thanks

BTW I figure I would like to keep the total budget around $10-15k with probably about $5-6k in motor, or if its less than that, so much the better
I digure that woiuld be what I would spend on a newer car and if I could get the Firebird the way I want it in that budget then I would do that. Not worried about resale value since I have had the car for 14 years, don't think I will ever part with it.

What are you looking to do with the car? Weekend warrior, daily driver, all out drag car???? LT/LS swaps are nice because you get decent power and get good gas mileage, not to mention the reliability of fuel injection. But if you're just planning on driving it a couple times a month on a nice sunny weekend day then that may not matter to you as much. As far as crate motors go, this one was posted recently and I am very impressed the the numbers for the $$$ spent. YearOne Online Shopping

Well I want a car that would be reliable and also be something I can "get on it" every so often. If I used it as a daily driver my commute to work is only 3 miles. But I would like to be able to reliable take it anywhere I wanted and no it will reach my destination under its own power.
