305TBI to 350 Carb Question

I know there have been many posts about this topic regarding the swap of the 305tbi to 350 carb. I have looked through many of the posts, being a new member I cannot cover them all due to the low time and car work I need to do this weekend. I currently took out the 305tbi from my 92 rs and also took out everything I didnt need so far, like the AC hoses and heater box for now until i can find a non-ac one from the junkyard... took out char coal canister and there will be no emissions just shortty headers to maybe high flow cat w/ flowmaster. The only thing I really dont understand is about the wireing harness.. should I ditch the existing one with the million connections or should I just cut and modify it as I put in the new 355 carbed engine I go ready? Does any company make harnesses or is the original worth saving?

Here is a picture of the engine, and here is what my car looks like right now. good stuff is going to happen soon! =)

i just did this swap on a 91 firebird keep the stock harness plug in as many sensors as you can and you can data log your new engine. you can ofcourse cut the wires that are not needed such as charcoal canister tbi injector iac sensors none of that will be plugged in i spliced my tbi injector wire and used it as the 12v swiched source for my carb choke its working great. hit me up if you have any other questions its been quite a learning experience for me.

I'd keep them for the time being - to make sure you in deed save all you need. Wrap them, zip-tie out of the way, etc, and get it running first - then remove later as you get it going right. I ended up using alot of the old wires for other things, like seperate fan controllers, torque converter lockup switches, electric chokes, etc - all these things need hot-in-run wires, and you already have an abundant supply if you don't go cutting just yet.

9 months later - I still have all my TBI wires in place - some spliced into for other things, some just wrapped and tucked out of the way - and I'll probably just leave them, as they are tucked out of the way and hidden. But I'll always have an easy hot-in-run tap, should I ever need it.

I believe mine was from TCI - I ordered it from Summit. Several companies make them, and they range in price - mine was like $80. The one I have allows you to also add extra wiring/switches in the cabin to lock or unlock upon throwing the switch(es) - for whatever reason.

The tranny pan has to be removed and a new solenoid installed, along with a new wiring harness for the tranny. Get the tranny plug kit and add the drain plug to the tranny pan while your there - I wish I had (it's also a good time to install a shift kit if you desire). Then there's a vacuum switch that you can mount wherever you like under the hood that controls the lockup. Attach a manifold vacuum source, and your there.
