v6- LT1 transmission?
v6- LT1 transmission?
My goal is to put the LT1 in my currenly v6 86 camaro.
I read the posts on going from v6 to v8 and 3rd gen to lt1. I didn't see there being any problem with hooking up any of the transmissions.
The question: Can I bolt up the v6 t5 tranny to the LT1 engine?
This will only be a temporary thing until I get the transmission that I want. I know that I'll tear that v6 t5 up if I left it behind the bigger engine for too long. I just want to know if it will work.

Welcome aboard.
The V6 bellhousing won't work. The V6 input shaft is smaller than the V8 shaft, so you'll have to use a V6 sized hub clutch disk.
Of course, the word "work" is subject to intrepretation. Stay off the gas, and the V6 T5 will probably "work" for a long time. Get on it, dump the clutch, speed shift - you'll be walking home before long.

Thanks for the replies. It looks as though I should probably just get the transmission that I want before installing. Will the 6 speeds that were put behind the LT1(I think called T-56) bolt to the origional crossmember and stabilizer bar thingy?
Or would it be easier to go with a v8 t-5 that will bolt up to everything?
