small vs. big distributor
The stock 305 in my 88 IROC has a small distributor with a seperate ignition component on the side. I'm in the process of putting in a 350 from an 87 Vette (cheapest 350 I could find and the alum. heads had me sold) but it has the larger distributor cap w/out the ignition component. Does anybody know if this will require wiring changes or if this will be a problem? Thanx in advance.

Welcome to the boards. Why don't you reuse you factory distributor? That seperate component is the coil.

I didn't know I could re-use the old distributor. I'll check and see what I need to do to put the coil on the engine that's going in.

yes the distributors will fit all 1955 and later sbc engines
the coil mounts to the intake manifold in a bracket on the TbI engines but im not sure on TPI engines,
good luck
