IT'S ALIVE...SWAP DONE

Just fired up my 388ci this weekend. swapped into my 92 3.1L vert. Just a little info for any one else doing the carb swap in a 92. I left the ECM in the car, and only used the wires I needed. The car has vats, but I did nothing to the circuit, and it starts right up. The fuel pump still primes for a couple seconds when you turn on the key, and runs after oil pressure builds up. I did nothing to the wiring in this circuit either. the temp and oil guages work just fine. The tach works but is way high. I ran a new circuit for the fan, so I don't know if it would have worked or not. The speedo is working just fine also, and I changed nothing there either. The only thing is the "ses" light, but I knew that would be on. Looks like in a 1992, alot of the wiring mods aren't needed if you leave the ECM in. Runs real good, just need to address the rear end now.

The tach is assuming every 3 ignition pulses equals one revolution. In your case, 4 pulses equals one revolution, so it is reading 33% too high. You either need a V8 tach, or the circuit card from one.

I hope you're using a return-style fuel pressure regulator.

The easy cure for the SES light is to remove the bulb.

Congrats on getting it running!

congrats. IMHO, the rear end and transmissions are the weakest parts of a 3rd gen. take care of the drivetrain and you will have one heck of a car to play around in.
