But I've got a 2000 model GMC with the Vortec 5.3L motor in it...

WTF? That thing is slow as hell. Supposed to be 295 or thereabouts HP... My sister's Stratus R/T is DEFINITELY faster...

Is it just that the truck is heavy, or is my engine just running weak?

It's about to turn 100,000 miles and I figure a tune up and a lot of other scheduled maintenance is coming up, maybe that will improve it some?


Just bored and wondering, especially since I was toying with the idea of putting that motor or one like it into an RS...

 

It's a HEAVY vehicle, and it's got a truck tune, not a sports car tune.
I think it's rated lower then that, I think the 6.0L vortec is 300HP.

Definately not the right forum though guy. Go to www.fullsizechevy.com and ask about re-chipping it. That'll wake it right up.
