ok my buddies just bought his first thirdgen, but when i looked at it i realized that it had a bad case of rod knock. So while in the pick and pull i found a chevy 3/4 ton van with a 350 tbi motor with 60k miles on it . Is this a good replacement motor untill he finishes his 355? i am going to let him use my old tpi system also will it able to still have some kick to it?

It will work fine as long as you use your TPI heads as well. Don't use your TPI system with TBI heads. You also need to either change to 350 (vin code 8) injectors or turn up the fuel pressure to compensate.

are the tbi heads that bad? the injectors are 24 lb accels that were on my car before and it ran fine. i rather not give him my l98 heads because they have worn out seals and i dont want to break anything on them
