68' 327 in 85 iroc
Hey people, kinda new to the boards, so i hope some of these questions wont be too stupid. I just obtained a 1985 irocz and the original engine has been swapped out for a 1968 corvette 327, possibly having camel hump heads. The previous owner claims that it has a three speed racing tranny in it, but that would have to go. Can anyone give me any info about what type of tranny that would bolt up to the 327, maybe a 4 or 5 speed automatic?
Thanks for any info.

The only 4speed auto tranny i know of is the 700r4.
You will need the TV cable and bracket to hook to your carb.
You will also need to wire up a switch to use the lock up feature in the torque converter.
If your tranny is a th350 i believe you can use your driveshaft ,dont know about crossmember.
If it is a th400 you will need appropriate driveshaft for the 700r4.which should be easy to find.
Check the tranny forum , where this should probably be ,
maybe someone can tell you how to identify which it is .
good luck , Mike

I would first sort through the BS and figure out what you have. If it is in fact a 327, dont get too overly excited. Its kinda like a 350 that someone left some cubes out of. As far as camel humps, if its a 68 model and the heads are true, then the heads probably wont have accessory holes, how is your stuff mounted up? Any trans that bolts to a 327 will bolt to a 350. You also need to find out what he meant by racing trans. Usually that means the th350 has a shift kit in it.
