firebird swap
I found this 454 on craigslist.com and was wondering if it would work to put this in my 1987 firebird that currently has the stock 2.8 v6. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/pts/306075744.html
i'm not sure if this is all the info you need to figure out if it would work and any help is greatly appreciated.

Check out the V6 to V8 swap, and big block swap stickies at the top of this forum. You'll find that you're the one that needs more information, I'm sure.
After you digest all of that, you'll probably have more questions, so come on back in.

The listing is dead.
Depends upon how it's built. If pretty much stock, a healthy TH350 would handle it. A TH700 would have to be beefed up to handle it. TH400 is very common behind BBC's that have been built.
For manual transmissions, forget a T5. A T56 and most of the old-school muscle 4-speeds (Muncie, for instance) would handle it.
The stock 10-bolt rear end would need serious beefing up to handle a stock 454. More engine than that, plan on 12-bolt or 9 inch.

Re: firebird swap
its probably going to be auto, and would a 9 bolt work, or would it make more sense to just beef up the 10 bolt? thanks again for the help
