so you want a 400sb, which has no flywheel or crank?? you can get an aftermarket crank that has internal balance, but its gonna be forged and cost a pretty penny.. dont see why you need it.. external balance stuff is just as good.. as for the t-56 part, no ideas here.. i'm still stuck with my t-5.. all i know is that a 400 flywheel doesnt fit in a stock t-5 bellhousing..
Re: t56 flywheel for a 400sb
Before I had my big block bolted to my T5 I had a 406 in my 84TA. The part I used was an external balanced 153 tooth made by Hayes. It turned out to just be a standard zero balanced 153 with about 5 3/8" holes drilled into the opposite side of where the weight is normally attached. I asked the guy who balance my motor if I could have just purchase a standard zero balance wheel and have him drill the holes and he laughed and said yes. I felt like a moron.

Any good quality balancer for a stock 400 will work. The best of course would be the $ATI$. For a good quality stock replacement grade one, use a Pioneer.
Yes it would be possible to use the neutral-balanced "swap" flywheel to put the T-56 behind a 2-piece RMS motor, and have it "unbalanced" to the stock 400 spec; not a problem. My T-5 one for a 400 was done that way and worked fine for a VERY long time. Only thing is, I think you would find that it will cost more in this particular case to do that, than to buy it already done. No matter what, it's still a "special" "swap" flywheel. A little different situation from the possibilities when there's some stock flywheel you can do that to, or even some relatively cheep aftermarket one.
