dropping a pontiac 350 into a 3rd gen firebird

Hi guys, my 305 has just recently spat its dummy out and shot rods through the side of the oil pan and block, not a pretty sight but i guess that the previous owner didn't take much care as this all happened at a speed of 65mph.

Anyway onto the surgery part.
Could you help me with what parts i will need to put a pontiac 350 block and bop patern thm350 short tail shaft (to replace the weak 200c) box in.

Previous engine was a chevy 305 and a thm200c auto box.

Many thanks in advance.

Stuart

Since you've already read through the sticky at the top of this forum page, what specifically didn't it cover?

Re: dropping a pontiac 350 into a 3rd gen firebird

Couldnt seem to find any relation to the BOP patern 350 tranny being of the type that the original 3 speed auto shifter linkage and shifter plate will work or if it has to be changed over?
I know the torque arm may need slight adjustment, unsure of the lineup with the old single bolt lower tranny mount that the 200c sat on though?

ive always been under the impression if your unsure its always best to ask..

I dont have the engine and box as yet so i'm planning ahead so any fresh input would be appreciated.
the block im looking at is a fresh rebuilt 69 pontiac 350.

Your turbo 350 should drop right in where the 200c used to be. That was my first swap in my Cutlass. I used the same mount and crossmember and they were the same length. Same shifter hookup as well. You shouldn't have problems with that.

It was a short tailshaft TH350. The medium or long shaft doesn't work right. Anyway, you can use your original driveshaft as well.

I was just making sure that you are really using a 200c crossmember; they're not common...

82 means yes!!

We just want you to succeed!

You may also need the B&M torque arm adapter for the TH350 to hook that back up as well.
