I have a 1989 Iroc-z with the 305 motor and manual tranny, will my existing transmission work and hook up with a LT1 engine??

 

"Hook up"? Yes.

"Work?" Only question there is, "how long".

 

ok, cool. I understand that. Im in the process of taking out the old 305 and putting in a LT1, i think the biggest things that im worried about it the wireing and making sure this passes inspection, plus the A/C issue. Iv'e read multiple threads on it, just seams like many people still have issues trying to do it...

Also, i got the LT1 for only $300, i am planning on rebuilding, what are my best options to get atleat 400hp out of it, but still be a reasonable car that I can drive a few times a week

 

lt4 conversion kit?

 

I know this might be a stupid question...but if I have an LT1, and I buy the LT4 conversion kit. will I still have to completly buy a rebuild kit?? and would I have to get a Lt4 engine wiring harness??

I really wouldn't waste your money on the LT4 conversion kit, as not only are the stock LT1 cylinder heads more than workable, a custom ground camshaft, tailored to your specifications, would work so much more better than the Hot-Cam. Just my....
