Hello everyone my names is James I am new member to this site. I was told to come over and ask a few question from my other car site z28.com. I have a 84 z28 in good shape with a 350 bored 60 over, aftermarket heads, shorty headers, 4 barel carb, mild cam, 700r4 built(lifetime war.) 373 rearend gears. But i am looking to put a 383 motor in the car.I would like to put a fuel inj kit in the car but dont realy know what one to get or even where to buy one that willnt cost me arm and leg. I would also like to have a good cam too but dont know any specs. Thank you for any info or direction you can give and ty.

Its only my summer car, I would like to be able to race it once while. I am Active Navy atm so i want to build the car while im away so it will be rdy to drive when i get back. Its in my sisters drive way with a bad knock when its under a load so i know i need some motor work. The car will never be a DD it will be my once in a while driver and show off car that can handle its own if you know what i mean.

 

well i have talked around and now maybe i nmight cheat and geta 350 fron a newer z28 so i can have the fuel inj and then i can work with that. Any input,

 

Read the stickies at the top about LTx and LSx swaps. There is a lot of info in the stickies for what you need in engine swap, TPI, DFI ECM, and on and on.

Oh, and one more thing, BE SPECIFIC! The more info you give us the more we can help. Saying something like, "I might cheat and get a 350 from a newer Z28," doesn't help. Does that mean L98, LT1, or 5.7 LS1? We can't help if you don't tell us what you are asking.

You can get a fuel injected 350 from a Formula or Trans Am as well, don't forget...

 

i have chosen to go with a LT1. I am going to start looking 4 a donor car to take the hole thing out of. I will need the wiring harness, computer and well and the motor. If i think i read right i can take this out of a 93 z28 and get most the parts out of it? And the vette has a little more problems going into a 3rd gen? Well the gears are turning i will have the cash flow coming in soon (im going out to sea) so i know i can do it. Last but least does anyone have a input on mods i should have put in when i have the motor out?
