Re: motor/trans swap 87 trans am, help!

T-5s aren't know for lasting long behind 305s, let alone bigger motors. They'll fit and work, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea. Most people who do that, enjoy the opportunity of frequently replacing T-5s.

The T-56 swap has been covered in EXHAUSTIVE detail on this site; just read through a few pages of posts on this forum and skim through all of the T-56 ones (there's PLENTY), and take a look at the "everything you wanted to know about the T-56 swap but were afraid to ask" thread on the FAQ forum. I can't imagine what question you could possibly come up with that hasn't already been discussed to death; but if you come up with one, THEN ask it, AFTER reading all that's already been written on the subject.

Yes, in general all you 305 stuff will bolt right up to a 350; they are the same externally. Without knowing exactly what it all is though, it's hard to say if it would be "the best" stuff you could use. But yeah, it'll bolt up.

Excuse me, I forgot to mention... most of the T-56 stuff is in the "Trans/Drivetrain" forum, not this one.
