tired of going 14s, i want your opinion, please help!

ok so right now i have a 350 with flat tops, a mild cam, some 64cc ported truck heads with bad flow and the stock tpi setup with a 52mm tb, shorty headers, 24# injectors, 3" borla exhaust, 3200 stall, 700r4 and 3.73 with some drag radials my best 1/4 time so far has abeen 14.3 wiith a 2.0 60ft and tranny not shifting to third.so i'm basically tired of going slow. i wanna go high 11s to low 12s

6 speed tranny is on the way, so the 700r4 will be gone, tpi setup is being replaced with a ported lt1 intake as we speak.
My car is a 89 trans am and i'm still rocking the MAF.

My first plan was to go with a single turbo @ 6-8 psi and keep the engine as it is right now. i had already done tons of research on how to boost it BUT i really do not feel confortable upgrading to SD because i have not yet found the right info to do it so i would still be using the MAF.

I recently thought about going with a nicely built 383 stroker with some heads that will handle the flow and 30# injectors with the LT1.

Ive done some math and both of them will put me within the same price range, i know tons of people on here have gone with 383s but not many turbo TPIs.

This is NOT my daily drive car its just my weekend car and the most octane i will use is 93. i want it to be reliable and fast.

What do you guys suggest??

well what is your compression ratio as it sits? do you think it will handle the boost?

if both setups cost the same roughly, and both setups will give you the performance you desire, then go turbo to be different or else go 383 for that mean nasty idle naturally aspirated motor sound

both are good bets. i like the idea of a fresh 383 motor with good heads and such.

BUT your current setup would be mid 13's if you could get that 60 foot down. 3200 stall with drag radials and 3.73 gears should be touchin high 1.6 to low 1.7 60 foots and running mid 13's for sure

I'd fix your problems now and get the most out of the current setup and then plan on doing a new build

I say build a carb'd 355-406 and run low 11's, high 10's on nutts, but that's just me.

I got a Well prep'd 406 in my ride and run mid 10's on 93 all day long. Add the 250 shot and were in mid-low 9's depending on track conditions.

I do not know the exact compression ratio but when i built it it was around the 9.2:1 area if i recall correctly.

I would like to keep it FI mainly because my brother has a 3rd gen camaro with a 355 and a 750 carb so i wanted to do something diff instead of having something similar to his setup, he runs 11.6s with a 100 shot.

By 406 do you mean a 400 block bored .30 over?? is going with a 400 a better option powerwise and reliability??

406 over a 383 isnt all that much difference if properly build. 400 blocks can be weaker and have more cooling problems than 350-383 blocks. i'd keep 383 if i was you

Lt1 intake would work great. Combine that with a LE3 cam or similar, and your setup will move!!
