LT1 & 700R4
I am going to be swapping an 93 LT1 engine into my 87 iroc. Will i be able to keep the 700R4 for the engine swap? It should bolt upto the LT1 right? Will i use the 305TPI flexplate/flywheel that is in the car now? How about the speedometer? if i was going with the 4l60 or t56 then i would need a box to convert the signal right, If i use the stock speedo and the 700R4 tranny then i shouldn't have to make any changes should i for the speedo to work?
Thanks

Re: LT1 & 700R4
A '93 700R4/4L60 for a '93 LT1 is the exact same trans as the 87-92 700R4/4L60 that came in thirdgens. However, '87 was the changeover year, so there's no telling if yours is the newer style or the older style. Externally they're the same so it will bolt up to the LT1 just fine. Its the internals that are different and stronger in the newer versions.
The speedometer gears are the same too. Those were not changed until the '94 4L60-E models.
The 93+ T56 will need a converter box.
