Re: Need help
Yes, physically the engine will fit. However, it won't bolt to your transmission as the bellhousing pattern is different. You'll also need to figure out what you want to do to get air and fuel into the engine. Are you going to swap the EFI into the Camaro as well? Or are you planning on swapping to carb? Both have their advantages/disadvantages but both will work.

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
Read the V6 to V8 swap sticky in the top section of this forum. That covers the basics.
A '96 Silverado would be a Vortec engine, I believe. Not a very performance-friendly EFI system.

The engine will be fine, it should fit the motor mounts with no problems. What transmission do you have? Is it from a 2 wheel drive or a 4 wheel drive? 4 wheel drive transmission won't fit, the tailhousing is different. If its a 2 wheel drive transmission, you would have to measure it to make sure its the same length as your 700R4. Should be close. The only other issue would be the torque arm mount. The torque arms on these cars mount to the transmission tailhousing. Your truck transmission wont have the provisions for this so you would need to get a torque arm relocation kit. You can find them online and from the various site sponsors to relocate the torque arm mount from the transmission tailhousing to the crossmember.
The wiring harness may need some modifications like lengthening some wires, or splicing directly into the Camaro's wiring harness to work. You do have the ECM from the truck, right? The transmission if its original to the truck and an automatic will be a 4L60E and it will need to have the truck's ECM to control it.
Also, you will need to do some plumbing for the fuel lines as you're going from the v6's MPFI to the truck's SFI. The fuel lines in the truck would have come up from behind the engine IIRC, whereas your fuel lines will come up the side frame rail and then over across the top of the front of the engine.
