The 305ci vs. 350ci
The 305ci vs. 350ci
well, I have an 83 z28 with a 305 lg4 and I could never get the power I wanted. Is the engine original? When I started bolting on high performance parts on my 305, it threw a rod and self distructed. The motor was old and couldn't take the higher level of abuse. I then decided that it would be more expensive to rebuild the 305 completely than to buy a new 350 crate motor from Scoggen Dickey. The 305 just didn't have the torque. The crate motor 350ci has 250hp and 304ftlbs vs. my 305lg4 that started at 145hp and 220-240ft lbs. Power is like sex, you can never have enough! Sure, it starts out like: hmmm thats enough power for me, but soon you give in to the need for speed! The crate motor goes for only $1300 brand new. I am bolting it in this weekend (hopefully). Email me for more details later if you want.
Thanks Chris, I believe it is the original engine. I plan on getting it with my taxes, and start from there. So i will have plenty of time to plan. I wanted to get the opinion of all you pro's that have done this stuff before. I just bought my first 3-gen last year, so Im pretty new to them. Thanks again for your advice

I am going to do this very same thing very soon. I have a 1984 Z-28 ho (That has been recently redone and looks like a black 87 Irock z) with an L-69 motor that still turns out that stock rated 15.2 quarter mile. However, I want to know if the LM1 motor will install easily, meaning, can I take all of my original intake equipment and use it on this motor with no hassles?
