I found that the front end would bottom out on dips & speed bumps at very low speeds. It also just didn't "feel" right. After driving it with the V-6 springs for a couple of weeks, I bit the bullet and put in the V-8 springs. Much better after that.
I never verified this, but it looked like to me that the entire front crossmember will unbolt. That will give you the springs and front engine mounts (which, if you haven't heard, are a bear to change because the nuts are inside the crossmember and hard to reach), as well as the front brake line (which is forward on the V-6 and rearward on the V-8). Wish I had noticed that before I started fooling with the engine mouts.

It's "easy." You have to remove the springs and struts in order to gain access to the motor mounts. Therefore, there's no real excuse for NOT installing V8-rated springs up front.
MILT
P.S. No, the entire front cross-member does not unbolt.
Lots of us, including me, have done this swap several times. Let me know if you need any specific info...
