do i really need a/c delete PULLEY?
do i really need a/c delete PULLEY?
taking out smog pump and a/c soon. looked it up on here and everyone says i would need the a/c delete pulley ($33 form gmpartsdirect or something) but i was looking today and if it is possible to go over and around the tensioner instead of out to the pulley and back down to it.
i just dont want that HUGE fugly bracket on the pass. side if its not needed for anything.
i'll try to rig up a pic and get it on here if i can and anyone thinks its possible

i'll answer my own question. an extra pulley is NOT needed. i took all the crap out this weekend and it looks great. the car seems to feel a lil better now (probably all in my head) and i like the idea of using a much shorter belt.
i used a 70.5" 6rib belt for $15 and thats all it took. just run the belt over the tensioner instead of under and the rest of the routing is the same.

yup, it works great, i've noticed better gas mileage too. i like the idea of fabricating a plate/bracket. i'll have to look into it, it would be nice to get rid of that huge awful empty bracket there now.
if there was a way to adjust the alt. hieght i think it would be possible to bypass the idler (and whole pass. side bracket) right?

I see some aftermarkets use a turnbuckle with rod ends to tension the alternator on a serpentine. I like the auto tensioner cuz im lazy, but would like to clear the passenger side out or maybe somehow move the alternator over there to make room for the procharger I might buy but will probably (hopefully) come to my senses and better invest that money into a 95 camaro six I was lookin at..... Off the topic. Income tax time burns holes in my pocket.
