Welcome! I took those numbers to www.mortec.com and came up with the following:
3970014....350...year:70-75...mains:2 or 4
However, to me, the years listed don't seem to agree with the casting date of May(E) 12, 1976.
Anyways, I'm no expert on casting numbers and might have looked it up wrong, but hey, its my best shot.

Got it! Thanks, didn't mean to do that quote. I'm putting together a 84Z , got the eng. from a truck and wanted to make sure. It's just what I need. The body is in good shape org. from AZ. the T-top leaks, and needs alot of work but it's worth it! Just want to get it on the road for now and fix it up as I go. defintely a fixer upper.
