305 to 350... that is the question
Right now I got a higher mileage 305 TBI and I would like to trade it out for a 350 that I got out of a Chevelle, I would like to use all of my current accessories including the TBI but just with the better 350, could I use the stock computer? And is this really good idea (the motor is good)
i would upgrade as much as possible....heads, intake, exhaust.....since the 305's are so restricted......you wont ge the gains u want with the 305 parts....im doing the swap now to 350 from 305.....trust me, do it good the first time to save some headaches

I assume your TBI engine is '87-newer. If so, your center two intake bolt angles will be different on the TBI manifold than the Chevelle heads. The intake holes can be elongated to make them fit the 350 heads (if by "good heads", you mean "87-later bolt pattern, never mind).
Also, your 305 will have a one-piece rear main seal, which means your flex plate/flywheel will not mount onto the 350. Get a two-piece rear main seal type flex plate/flywheel.
Finally, the dip stick will be on the driver's side on the 350. But, with headers, that shouldn't be a problem.
The computer should work, but post on the TBI board for more ideas. And, it's a good idea. Smooth? Just remember this - "There's no such thing as a bolt-in" - and you'll be fine.

I am in the process of swapping a 305 for a 350. The 350 was in an auto and the new car is a standard. Once I finally could the old motor out I found out the motor mounts needed replacement. Take alonger to replace then what I had expected. So as mentioned earlier expect it to take longer than you think.

I just read in Hot Rod about a guy who was puttin' a 383 in his 91 RS conv. They told him to get in touch with www.turbocity.com. You need to have a custom burned chip to match your cam, heads, headers, etc. combo. They can do that. They will also tell you (and sell you of course) the right injectors for your combo. They sell larger throttle bodies too. They told this guy to use a TB off of a 454. It flows 620 cfm as apposed to 520 cfm off the stock unit. But that's for a 383. Hot Rod said that Turbo City's hi-po unit flows 585. I am gonna be putting in a 350 in my 92 and I wanna use the TBI. That's why I pay close attention to this kinda stuff.
