need help for a 355

i have a 350 4bolt maybe 78 to 85 truck block, and found that it was .030 cylinder and 14014416 305 head. i also have (it seems to be) a stock crank and h345np flat top pistons. that block was in my TA 86 with a 700r4 and maybe a 3.27 rear end. my bugdet is under 2000 and i wanna find new head (aluminum if i can) with a cam (dunno what it is yet)... a holley 650 double pump is on top of it with a torker II edelbrock intake.

Some stock vette heads can be had for 5 or 6 hundred bucks.

Re: need help for a 355

The 416 heads are pretty nice heads, if ported/polished. They make alot of compression on the 350 block. You could keep them, and port/polish, do a valve job and have cut for 1 size larger intake valve and new seals - they'd scream on the 350.

Re: need help for a 355

ive got a couple of friends running patriot heads and love them. they are a cheep aluminum head. 800 or so a pair. ive even been thinkin bout selling my dart iron eagles to try them out. as far as a cam think of an rpm range you want to use. and wat the purpose is. with a 3.23 rear id stay away from anything to choppy for high way use. i have a .490 lift cam and with my 3.73 it chugged goin down the road at 2000rpm at 60. so i went to 4.11 with the 9 inch to cure that problem.

Re: need help for a 355

I too am very interested in the Patriot heads. While not in the flow league of AFR, their 195cc heads seem to be a heck of a good deal for only a little more than half the price. Anybody have any actual experience running these things?
