Is this all possible?
With gas prices every raising I have been almost afriad to do any kind of performance upgrades. Anyway, I recently found a fairly cheap engine from GM Goodwrench with around 285 hp and 353ftlbs. Honestly This in its self would be quite an upgrade from the 305 TPI in the 85, however, I have some questions about what may work together.
1. I have seen some of the posts sayin that really the only thing that is recommended after doing this swap was and adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Is there anything else that are musts?
2. I want to keep my factory TPI for now. Would I need to buy an aftermarket manifold in order to make the heads match-up?
3. Lastly, What could I expect to see if I were to put a set of ported fast burn heads and the hot ca kit on the engine and would that change anything as far as the TPI is concerned?

See https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/001004.html . It all applies to you.
If you're worried about gas prices, you probably don't want to consider fast burn heads and hot cam. It would probably also send the ECM over the edge (custom PROM needed to make it work right).
