305tpi to 350 swap questions
I found a 350tbi from a 1990 chevy pickup. it is a one piece rear main with 2 bolt main and vortec heads with centerbolt valve covers.
Can I swap this into my 88 305 tpi and keep the tpi computer setup and 19# inj.?
Will roller cam work with heads?
The 350 has no threaded holes in block for knock sensor and is the distributor the same with external coil?
Just pulled my 305 to rebuild and everyone keeps saying 350 is the way to go, but I really want to stay fuel injected, any ideas?

Yes, you can pretty much take all the TPI stuff off your 305 and bolt it to the 350. Including the distributor.
The knock sensor is in the passenger side water jacket drain hole. It is in the 350 (at least, it was there for the truck).
You can use the roller cam & lifters if the block has been machined for it. The push rods go with the lifters - use the 305 pushrods if you use the 305 cam & lifters.
Use the flexplate and starter off of the 305.
The knock sensor module is different from 305 to 350. If the truck is still available, try to get it as well. Otherwise, find/buy one.
Factory 350 TPI's had 22 lb injectors, but the 19's will be fine for all but the most severe power situations (and probably not a problem at all with stock cam, TPI, and exhaust).
This should be a slam-dunk.

Re: 305tpi to 350 swap questions
Your situation is almost the same as mine. Except my camaro has a 305 with a 4bbl carb.

Re: 305tpi to 350 swap questions
Anyone know if they sell a package to save me from buying everytthing seperate?
im looking at...
$50 knock sensor
$90 esc module
$250 injectors
$175 prom
Maybe it would be smarter to stick with the 305 since I only want a mild increase in power, and put the money to machining costs.

Re: 305tpi to 350 swap questions
am also trying to do a 350 swap to my Stock 88 trans am 305TPI with a fresh rebuilt T-5. But i also want to know will my T-5, rear end, or driveshaft will handle the 350 power? Would i have to upgrade on drivetrain?

Sure, until you start beating on it.
Since there was no difference between 305 and 350 driveshafts or rear ends, it's the T5 that will be the weak link.
