Hey all, im new to this bbs, but here goes. I am thinking of buying a 85 firebird, that has factory tripometer, and other factory goodies. the problem is that it has a rank 305 with a good five speed. I want to swap in a TPI 350 and mate it to the five speed tranny, is that possible ?

the '85 tranny might be the weaker one. I don't think it can handle the torque. If it is the later 5 speed you should be fine. the rear main seal of the 350 TPI might be different too than the 305.. sorry I'm not much help

OH, well if the engine will bolt up im gonna have the trans bullet proofed to take the torque. hey how much hp have you squeezed out of your 305 ? If i can get 300HP out of my 305 then i will stick with the stock engine

190hp so far I think. Should be over 220hp with all that exaust stuff.

check out the TBI board. There is a guy running 14.2 on the peanut cam and aluminum edelbrock performer heads. Granted he has a great drag setup but he can be in the 13s with a cam.
