I believe mine would have cleared the AC assembly on the firewall if I had used standard valve covers. I used tall valve covers because I have roller rockers and the tall versions will not fit with AC still in the car.
If you put a big block in it, it would not be a street car most likely anyways. If you are going to do a big block, might as well go all out power on it, and in that case you wont want to drive it where you need AC.

I don't have a heater or AC in my car but like QwkTrip said. You need to use regular height valve covers to get it to fit. Tall valve covers will probably also interfere with the windshield wiper motor.
