350 vortec heads on a 305
350 vortec heads on a 305
Has anyone ever done this? I have a set of vortec heads that i was going to put on a 350 that I am going to build. But while I am wating for the money to roll around and the time to build the engine i figured the only problem would be that 305 heads (if I'm not mistaken) are 58cc combustion chambers while the vortecs are 62-64 cc combustion chambers. I know i could put on a thiner head gasket but i was wondering if this would even be worth my work. I know all of the stuff about the vortec intake and a 4bbl so all i need to know is if anyone has done this before? Thanks for he help

Well if you are eventually going to put them on a 350, I wouldnt even worry about the loss of compression on the 305 since its not going to be like that for long.
Is there some reason you are swapping heads on the 305? If theres nothing wrong with the 305 now, I would not waste a dime on it and just spend the money on the 350 instead.
